Antonio Neri (born May 10, 1967) is an Argentine Italian American business leader currently serving as President and Chief Executive Officer of Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). Under his stewardship since February 2018, HPE has been transformed into a global edgetocloud solutions provider.

Early Life and Education

Born in Argentina to Sicilian immigrant parents, Neri’s early fascination with electronics propelled him toward engineering. At age 15, he embarked on military technical training as an engineering apprentice in the Argentine Navy, where he repaired radar and sonar systems. He continued his engineering studies at Escuela Nacional de Education Técnica and the National Technological University in Argentina. Beyond engineering, he also studied art for nine years and taught drawing and painting.

A Storied Career at HP and HPE

In 1995, Neri began his professional journey at HewlettPackard in Amsterdam within customer service. He quickly advanced through roles including support engineer, education manager, and services manager for Europe. By 1997, he relocated to Boise, Idaho, to serve as global director of imaging and printing services. In 2004, he moved to Houston to take on leadership in PC services, and by 2011 he helmed the technology services business.

Before HPE’s 2015 spinoff from HP Inc., Neri was Senior Vice President and General Manager of HP’s Server and Networking units. In 2015, he became Executive Vice President and General Manager of HPE’s Enterprise Group, overseeing key areas such as marketing strategy, R&D, and product development. Elevated to President in June 2017, he streamlined the business and briefly served as Interim Chief Sales Officer. In February 2018, he succeeded Meg Whitman as CEO, becoming HPE’s first Latino chief executive, and joined the board of directors.

Driving Innovation at HPE

As CEO, Neri has spearheaded HPE’s transformation into a cuttingedge enterprise technology company. He championed solutions like the Apollo HPC portfolio, HPE Superdome X, and HPE Synergy, platforms lauded for their scalability and innovation.

He also advanced the company's Next Initiative, a comprehensive reimagining that reduced SKUs by 75%, streamlined management layers, and fostered innovation, edge computing, and a diversityfocused culture.

Neri played a central role in HPE’s strategic acquisitions, most notably Aruba Networks, SimpliVity, Nimble Storage, and Silicon Graphics International (SGI), which have greatly expanded HPE’s enterprise technology footprint.

Also, Neri has been instrumental in launching HPE GreenLake, the company's asaservice, hybridcloud platform. In 2019, he set a bold vision for the company: transitioning all products to a “as a service” model by 2022.

Personal Insights

Neri resides in The Woodlands, Texas, and became a U.S. citizen in 2012. Married, he met his wife at an HP call center in the late 1990s, they have two children. Multilingual in Dutch, English, Italian, and Spanish, Neri balances leadership with personal passions including painting and soccer.
